The brief

People contacting a private investigator want discretion

Pittman Investigations is a private-investigation agency in New Bedford, Massachusetts, working for individuals, businesses and legal professionals across surveillance, criminal and civil investigations, risk management, income verification and litigation support.

People reaching out to a private investigator are usually dealing with something stressful and private. The site had to feel discreet and credible, make a free telephone consultation the obvious first step, lay out the services plainly, and give existing clients a way to pay a retainer online. Local visibility around New Bedford mattered too.

What I did

Phone-first, reassuring, and easy to pay.

  • Elementor build with the phone number pinned in the header and a free-consultation call to action repeated down the page
  • A "no obligation, confidential and secure" reassurance block, with the retainer terms stated plainly
  • A services list covering surveillance, criminal and civil, risk management, income verification and litigation support
  • Real client testimonials in a rotating panel
  • A "Make a Payment" path for existing clients to send a retainer
  • LocalBusiness and FAQ schema, metadata and Open Graph aimed at "private investigator New Bedford MA"
Speed proof

A healthy 93 on desktop, and mobile that needs the hero trimmed.

Desktop is clean

Desktop Performance is 93, with Best Practices at 100, blocking time at 0 ms and layout shift at 0.031. First Contentful Paint and Speed Index are both around a second.

Straight talk: mobile Performance is 60, the lowest in this set. Scripts and layout are fine, blocking time is 20 ms and layout shift is 0.077. The problem is paint time. The dark full-bleed hero photo is the Largest Contentful Paint element, and with the builder's render-blocking styles on top of it, First Contentful Paint is 5.1 s and Largest Contentful Paint is 7.8 s under mobile throttling. A compressed mobile hero and inlined critical CSS are the fix, and they are the priority here.

Outcome

What it does now

The site reads as discreet and credible, puts a free phone consultation front and centre, lays out the services, and lets existing clients pay a retainer online. Desktop is a healthy 93. The mobile hero image and the render-blocking styles behind it are the work that stands between this and a green mobile score.
