Make one attorney's track record the whole pitch
Ronald A. Phillips has practised divorce and family law from one office on Dutch Hill Road in Orangeburg, New York since 1982, serving families across Rockland County: divorce, custody, support, orders of protection, prenuptial agreements. He handles every case personally.
For a solo practice, the website is the pitch. It had to establish four decades of local courtroom experience quickly, make clear that clients work with the named attorney rather than junior staff, and turn a visit into a booked free consultation. Family-law clients are often in a stressful moment and searching on a phone, so clarity and a visible call button mattered most.
A Bricks build pointed at one call to action.
- Bricks theme, no page-builder bloat, tuned around a single clear call to action
- A practice-area page each for divorce, family law, child custody and prenuptial agreements
- Credibility built in: 40 years, one office, Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers marks, Google reviews
- Click-to-call in the header and a "free consultation" CTA repeated down the page
- A "what happens after you call" step sequence to lower the barrier to the first call
- LocalBusiness and Attorney schema, metadata and a mobile-first layout for Rockland County search
A perfect 100 on desktop.
As fast as a page gets, on desktop
On a light Bricks base, with WebP images, deferred scripts and critical CSS, the home page comes back at 100 on desktop with a 0.7 s Largest Contentful Paint and no layout shift. Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO all land in the high 90s or 100.
Straight talk: mobile is 76. The full-width courthouse photo behind the hero is the Largest Contentful Paint element, and under the mobile lab's throttling it lands around 7.1 s, which is what drags the score down; layout stability and blocking time stay green. A lighter hero treatment, or a smaller mobile crop, is the fix and it is on the shortlist.
SEO and AEO from the first commit
- Clean semantic HTML and one clear H1 per page
- JSON-LD schema per template (LocalBusiness, Attorney, FAQ, Breadcrumb)
- Per-page titles, meta and Open Graph
- XML sitemap, image alt text, sensible internal linking
- Answers written as real questions so AI engines can quote them
The home page, top to bottom.
What it does now
The result puts the attorney's name, tenure and reviews up front, gives a worried visitor a clear path from first call to resolution, and keeps the free-consultation button in reach on every screen. Desktop is as fast as a page gets; the mobile hero is the next thing to tighten.
