The brief

A small site that has to feel personal

Nomad Fatimata is the personal brand of a cultural consultant based in the Washington, DC area, born in Senegal, raised in Mauritania, with roots in Mali. She offers online consultations on West African foods, cultures and communication styles.

The site is small by design. It had to introduce Fatimata warmly, convey the authenticity of what she offers, and move visitors toward either a consultation or the newsletter, all in a look that feels handcrafted rather than corporate.

What I did

A handcrafted identity on a deliberately short site.

  • Divi build with a handcrafted visual identity: organic blob shapes, script lettering and cocoa-pod line art
  • A hero that states the offer plainly, online consultations on West African foods, cultures and communication
  • An "About Fatimata" section that leads with her story across Senegal, Mauritania and Mali
  • A "Work With Me" path for booking a consultation, kept one click from every page
  • A newsletter sign-up for visitors who are not ready to book yet
  • Person and FAQ schema, metadata and Open Graph for search and social shares
Speed proof

Divi on desktop is a 96. Mobile is where the builder shows.

Strong desktop, honest about Divi on mobile

Desktop Performance is 96, with Best Practices at 100, First Contentful Paint 0.6 s, Speed Index 1.2 s, blocking time 0 ms and layout shift 0.008.

Straight talk: mobile Performance is 69. This is a Divi build, and Divi ships more CSS and JavaScript than a lean page builder, so on a throttled phone the hero food photo takes 5.1 s to paint and there is some layout shift at 0.144. Blocking time is still fine at 10 ms. Compressing the hero imagery and trimming unused Divi modules is the mobile work. On Divi, mobile realistically lands in the 60s to 80s depending on how image-heavy the design is.

Outcome

What it does now

The site introduces Fatimata, gives her story room, and routes visitors to a consultation or the newsletter, in a look that reads handcrafted, not templated. Desktop is a strong 96. The mobile score reflects Divi's weight plus the hero image, and both are addressable with a media and module pass.
